This is going to be long and real – are you ready?
The back story……
Twenty years ago this week I started my Senior Year of High School and shortly after started dating my now husband. I weighed just around 100 pounds. I could eat anything I wanted and never had to worry about gaining weight. It might have been because I was a picky eater or because I didn’t eat out very often.
But life happens right?
It wasn’t till I was a sophomore college and had a bad breakup with a boyfriend (other than my husband) and gained 20 pounds over the course of a year.
Then I got back into a relationship with my now husband. In the next three years, up to my wedding, I gained another 20 pounds.
I actually was in my healthy range at that point and felt good. Throughout high school and middle school people accused me of an eating disorder ~ it was just metabolism.
But then it happened – A year after I got married my husband was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, a form of Cancer. I was 23 and never saw that coming. It was then that I gained a big chunk of weight. In the next two years I would gain 35 pounds all due to stress eating. My go to comfort meal was Macaroni and Cheese.
I pretty much stayed at that weight for another 6 years until I got pregnant with my first son. I actually did good and only gained 20 pounds with the pregnancy and lost 10 of them after having him. The second pregnancy worked about the same and after both children was up about 15 pounds.
The stress of children and life added the last 10 pounds in the last 5 years. Yes, folks that means when I weighed myself this morning I was an even 200 pounds. EEEK!
Did I ever think I would get this overweight……..
It truly makes me sad and I really think I am ready for this journey. I’m an Ever-Changing Mom and this is a HUGE thing I need to change! Did I mention that my husband lost 35 pounds over the summer while I snuck ice cream sandwiches, but that is a whole other post.
